What is Opacity?

Opacity, or hiding power, measures a paint film's ability to obscure the underlying substrate or previous color. Controlled by pigment quality and concentration, high-opacity coatings prevent underlying surfaces from showing through, allowing contractors to achieve complete visual coverage in fewer coats over high-contrast or dark surfaces.
