What is Flaking?

Flaking is a paint failure where small, thin pieces of the paint film detach and break away from the underlying surface. It usually results from poor adhesion, moisture trapped beneath the coating, or inadequate surface preparation. Remediation requires scraping away loose material, sanding the edges smooth, and applying primer.
