A mildewcide is a chemical additive blended into exterior and bathroom paints to inhibit the growth of mold, mildew, and algae on painted surfaces. Humid climates and shaded walls are especially prone to biological growth, which discolors paint and degrades the film. Quality exterior paints include mildewcide as a standard ingredient, and painters can add extra concentrate to any paint for high-risk areas.
