Caulking is a flexible sealant used to fill gaps and seams around windows, doors, and trim. It blocks water and air from penetrating structural joints while creating smooth transitions for paint. Because caulk expands and contracts as building materials shift with temperature changes, it prevents paint from cracking along seams.
